An update...

The quilting and binding is done. Used a clamshell pattern all over and handquilted it.

Pink Lemonade top is finished.

Now it is on to get it ready for quilting. I will also handquilt this one.

Pink Lemonade

I am following a quilt-a-long organized by Lori at humblequilts.blogspot.com. This is a re-doing of a antique crib quilt that she has.
Got a pink reproduction that I liked, and used scraps for the blues, reds and browns.
Step 1 is now done.
This is really fun. Now I have to dive in to my boxes of stash and find a yellow fabric that fits.

Best boy (young man) in the world

That is my 17 year old son.
He got me a giftvoucher at my local quiltshop for christmas.
And today I traided this for the voucher

How cute is this?

I love these japanese books. Find so much inspiration just by looking at the photos.
Got to make some of these one day soon, I think.

Handmade presents

I made a quilt each for my kids, did`nt have enough time to finish the binding, so that is being done now.

This one was for my daughter. I used the Le Moyne Star in lots of differnt pinks, greens, blues and purples.

This one my son got. I used lots of blues, browns, greys, blacks and some tans. The same star is used here. This was a BOM from lappemakeriet.no.

Both are made with english paperpiecing tecnique by hand. Stars, sashing, cornerstones and border are put together by maschine.

I had both profesionally longarm quilted in a pattern called Bishop`s fan.

Will show some more photos later. Time to get the bus to go to work now.

Here is some more photos of it.

It is made by a strong inspiration from this blog miaslandliv.blogspot.com.
I used Garn Studio`s Alpacka yarn. Crochet needle size 3. I don`t have a pattern for it. But it is in a wavepattern.

I love having a snooze under this one, it is really warm and comfy.

I have opened the little present, and to my joy found a chocolatebar and a lovely ornament.

"Goosemother"

The pattern is called "Gåsemor" in Norwegian, and is designed by Rie Norum.
It is a quilt I am handquilting. It takes some time to get done. Specially because I find so many other tempting projects to start on!!

I love handquilting, and would handquilt all my quilts if I knew I would have nine lives like the cat!!
But I do pick out some quilts to handquilt. Others I quilt on my machine or send off to a professional.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Hansen

They arrived from Denmark last night.
After a good night sleep they are now ready to get to know their new home.

While waiting for these two I have been working on SSCS presents. Sorry can`t show photos of that, it is a secret.

I am starting to get ready for christmas.
Started on some tablerunners earlier this year. Are now handquilting one of those.

Pattern is from a norwegian designer, Trine bakke.

I am also having a go at making some purses.

The hexies are 1/4" and I used wool for the purse. The lining is under constrution at the moment.
Will post more about that later.

I am so lucky

A couple of months ago I was so lucky to win a draw at LA Quilter. blogspot.com.
She gave me a $ 50 gift voucher at fat quarter shop.com.

I have stalked the postwoman for weeks now, waiting for the parcel to arrive.
To day it happened.

I love the colours.

They will be nice to have when the cold winter arrives in a couple of months.

Some old stuff

A cold and the everyday chores have got the better of me last two weeks. Not much stitching going on.
I have signed on for SSCS 2011 by chooky. Have been checking out my partner, and am thinking a lot of what to make for her. Have started making the present, but can`t show it, it is a secret!

I am a new blogger, but I have been a quilter for some years now. Thought I would show some photos of some old stuff.

This is a quilt I made for DD and her dolls. She has now grown out of "pink princess". But her favorite doll still has it on her bed.

The quilt is handquilted and embillished with beeds.

I love to drink coffee...

Still like the fabrics. Have no room on my walls to hang it up, so it is kept in a cabinet.

This is a small one I use as a tablerunner.

This quilt is the first single bed quilt I finished. It is handquilted.

A Southern Star update

This morning i finished the last one. Have taken photos of all I have made during the summer. So here we go....

The fabric under the blocks is the one I will use as background. I bought it at my local quiltshop Quiltegården. last week. There is not much left of that fabric in the shop! Need alot to make this quilt as I am making it longer than the pattern says.
Now I am on to cutting fabric and prepering to applique the stars. Have not made many sircles to go on the stars, and there is the leaves on the borders to do too.
I usually keep most scraps from projects, and some of them has gone in to this quilt. There is plenty of scraps waiting to be cut.
I look forward to keep work on it now when the autumn-rain sets in.

I have made some progress on pies and tarts.

These pies has been appliqued on the background.
The following is next up.

I have not stitched the tarts, they are ready for fiddeling with the right color-combinations.

I was originaly planing to start machine quilting one of the tops I showed in my last post.

But I could not restrain from temtation. Last month I signed up for å new BOM over at Kathrine`s quiltestue. It is Sue Daley that has designed the pattern.

So yesterday I washed the fabrics and got them ready for cutting.
And today has been spent on lots of cutting and gluing. I am having lots and lots of fun!

Have started to put the blocks together tonight. Each month I get enough fabric for ten blocks.

I am looking forward to see how this quilt will turn out.

Still working on my priority list

I have made some good progress now. Just look.

The blocks for DS quilt is sewn together. Just missing the last borders.

This top is ready for quilting. Have not decided yet if I am going to do it my self or send it in for longarm quilting. Some more thinking to do.

This is a top I made for DD, it is made the same way as the one for DS. She loves pinks, so I pulled out lots of them from my stash. It turned out pretty wild in the colours.

This top I made last winter. It is inspired from a quilt I found in a norwegian quiltmagasin, the designer is Trine Bakke.
Have been planing to quilt it on my machine. Are now getting the backing ready to get the job done.
I used a lot of old shirts in different colours. I really like the way it turned out. Will use wool-batting in it so it will be warm. Are looking forward to use it.

I made this top this spring. It is inspired from a pattern in "Quiltegleder" by Rie Norum and Hilde Aanerud Krogh.
It has a cool feel to it that I like. I will do the quilting on this one my self. Just got to decide the backing first.

A great weekend

Not much sewing this weekend, have spent most of the days outside. Friday it was time to get some more blueberrys, on the way home we pasted this young "to-be-king of the forrest"

Yesterday it was time to go to town and get some shopping done, are back to work on monday. Both me and the children need new clothes for the autumn.

To day was spent on the beach, we had a lovely time with barbeque and cakes.

I have this project ready on my cuttingboard for sewing the blocks together. The blocks are made with EPP. The rest is going to be sewn together with sewingmachine. Another BOM from Lappemakeriet. This is going to be DS winterquilt.

I have two choises for saching and cornerstones.

We`ll see what I end up with.
Time to get some sleep. early day tomorrow.

Getting some more work done

Hi again. I said I was working on other projects.
Now I am putting together the blocks from a BOM I started from Lappemakeriet 1 1/2 years ago.

Most of the blocks has been finished long time ago, except one. Most of the fabrics are reproductions.

The one on top here was a bit tricky to sort out.
I chose to use vlisofix and buttonhole-stiches. I know, the easy way!

The rest of them was just fun to do.

I loved all the different fabrics and colors, except the dark ones in the dresden plate. But there always has to be a odd block there to make it interesting.

The last block also includes both border fabrics.

All the blocks are now sewn together with the inner borders.

After a good night sleep I will get the outer border on.
Then the top will be put away for a while, I have not decided how I am going to quilt it yet. Some thinking to do here.

Busy days

This is my last week of holidays this summer. We are busy sorting out the house and getting ready for autumn. Kids will be back at school and I at work.
In doing so I have also been working on some ufo`s.

One top has been laying there just missing batting, backing, quilting and binding. ( Well there is more tops like that, but one have to start somewhere!)

It is made from a pattern called "icecream", from northern quilts.
Everybody in this house LOVE icecream. I did eat a lot of it while I was making the quilt. Now the children are getting tempted to eat a lot of icecream.

I decided to have the quilting done by a professional merete Ellingsen. And she did a wonderful job with it.

I am going to the shops to day, think there will be some icecream with me home!!

Summerdays

We`ve had some lovely days in my part of the world. They have been spent on the beach or in the woods picking some blueberry. My favorite is blueberrypai with sour cream.

Have also found time to take photos of some progress.

This quilt will be 92" square. Have made most of the bits ready to stich. These photos shows one side. There will also be a square in the midle.
I have made 104 hexagon-flowers, 88 rosettes, 44 dollies, many hearts and sircles as well.
I am using my favorite color red and white. The fabrics are from large pieces to small scraps. It is a fun quilt to make.

What I have been working on this week

Most of my thoughts has gone to all those affected by the bombing and shouting in Oslo and Utøya. Have spent most of the week doing fun stuff with my children.
I have also been doing some stiching. These are so fun to do. I now have about 33 blocks. Don`t know how many there will be at the end.

I have some work to show, just have to get the photos sorted.

...on monday that is.

I am planing to spend some quality-time on this quilt. Looking at some of my latest purchases. Maybe get tempted to start a new quilt!

It is one more day at work until 4 weeks of holiday.
I am soooo looking forward to that. No plans, just go along with the day and see what happens.

Acctually, I feel the need to show that I do, really I do finish projects!
This was finished in 2010. The pattern is from a book called "Quiltegleder" by Hilde Krogh og Rie Nordum.
It is one of my favourite quiltbooks. I have spent hours looking at the photos in it. Will post a picture of it later, don`t know where it is at the moment.

It is quilted by machine, in the ditch around the four-patches and I used "borders made easy" on the green striped fabric and on the border.

A sunny afternoon

We have just had a small thunder-storm passing by. Now it is sunny and warm again.
As I promissed yesterday I have some more photos of what I have been working on the last couple of weeks. So here we go:

These are the last three photos I have of the stars, I have made more stars but have no photos yet.

Earlier in the spring I bought this book. I want to make the basket-quilt in it. I am planing to use some scrap frabrics to make the quilt. Do have a lot of that!
I love the way the baskets turn out, but it is going to take a looong time to finish.

This is another of my projects, it is "Night before christmas" of Crabapple Hill. It is lots and lots of stichery on it. I started on it last autumn and will be working on it for years to come I think!
This is the first part I have stiched, and there is lots more. Will show more photos as the work progress.

I have lots more quilts I am working on, but have not taken any photos yet. Will post more about those later. Wish you a happy quilty sundag.

I have one more week left at work until 4 weeks of holiday.
Have been doing some stiching also.

There has been some birthday-kids in my family. Made the 11-year old girl a bag for her little secret things.

My new best friend

I am the proud owner of a new Pfaff 4.0. It is absolutley lovely. I am going to have so much fun with my new best friend. So many buttons to play with!

Today I include photos of the quilt I am working on now. It is called "Dansing Dollies". It is a remade pattern of an old quilt. The pattern is by Susan Smith of Patchwork on Stonleigh in Australia. I purchased the pattern from Quilt it with Dotty in Netherland.

I am making this quilt in only red and white fabrics. If you pop over to "Supergoof"`s blog you will see where I have nicked the idea with the ribbons on the dollies. Wich is stilling missing heads and arms. I am working on those at the moment. Will post more later about this quilt.
